Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced faculty member to join our team as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Critical Care at Virginia Tech. The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in the teaching, service, and scholarly missions of the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in classroom and laboratory teaching of veterinary students in emergency and critical care medicine
  • Supervise and train veterinary students and rotating interns in the emergency & critical care rotation
  • Oversee the triage and case management of emergency and ICU patients
  • Consult with clients and referring veterinarians seeking critical care for their animals
  • Contribute to the scholarly achievements of the department through research and scholarship of teaching and learning
Requirements:
  • DVM or equivalent foreign degree by the date of hire
  • Completion of an American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC) or the European College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ECVECC) residency program by the date of hire
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal interactions
  • Must be eligible for a Virginia faculty veterinary license by the date of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC) or the European College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ECVECC)
  • Advanced clinical experience
  • Experience in teaching
