Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Technician to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a key member of our laboratory animal medicine team, you will be responsible for providing top-notch veterinary care to our research animal population.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians with routine health care, including medical rounds, animal monitoring, and treatment administration.
  • Collect and send diagnostic samples to the laboratory for analysis.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records.
  • Assist with surgery, anesthesia, and post-operative care.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures, including radiology and histopathology.
  • Assist with training and education of investigators and staff members.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science or a related field.
  • At least one year of experience in laboratory animal medicine or clinical veterinary medicine.
  • Experience with common laboratory animal species.
  • Licensed Veterinary Technician or AALAS certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with veterinary medical software and equipment.
  • Knowledge of laboratory animal medicine and veterinary science principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
