Job Title: Psychiatric Technician

GATEWAYS HOSPITAL & MENTAL HEALTH CENTER is seeking a skilled Psychiatric Technician to join our team. As a Psychiatric Technician, you will play a vital role in providing direct and indirect psychiatric care to promote the comfort, safety, and well-being of assigned patients.

Job Summary:

The Psychiatric Technician will perform a variety of tasks, including:

  • Providing direct basic nursing care to promote comfort and safety of patients
  • Assisting with patient education and achieving treatment goals
  • Encouraging and teaching patients personal hygiene and dietary habits
  • Participating in unit patient care conferences and staff development programs
Essential Skills:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Basic understanding of legal aspects of mental health, including confidentiality and patients' rights
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, leadership skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Proven ability to work with adolescent and adult patients
Requirements:

To be considered for this position, you must:

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Be certified as a Psychiatric Technician through the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians within 90 days of hire
  • Have six months of experience in an adult and/or adolescent inpatient psychiatric unit
Working Conditions:

This role requires:

  • Light work, able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds
  • Occasional exertion, including standing, walking, and bending
