Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Special Education Educator to join our team at Springfield Public Schools, MO. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to the instructional program, facilitating learning within an elementary school classroom, and developing lesson plans to meet the needs of students with mild-moderate disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): Collaborate with students, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement IEPs that meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Provide Instruction and Support: Provide direct instruction and support to students with mild-moderate disabilities, including those with special needs such as learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, and physical disabilities.
  • Assess and Evaluate Student Progress: Assess and evaluate student progress towards IEP goals, and make data-driven decisions to adjust instruction and support as needed.
  • Communicate with Parents and Staff: Communicate regularly with parents and staff to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives and programs that support students with special needs.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience working with students with mild-moderate disabilities.
  • Certifications: Special Education certification in Missouri in Mild-Moderate Disabilities (SLD, ED, ID, OHI, and cross-categorical).
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse populations, and knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
