Job Overview

Position Summary

The Cooker Operator plays a crucial role in the processing of animal byproducts and deceased stock. This position involves operating machinery through computerized controls while monitoring motor loads and the operational speeds of various equipment. Quality assurance is a key responsibility, requiring meticulous record-keeping of temperatures and inspections of incoming raw materials to ensure compliance with CGMP's and 5S standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and controlled working environment at all times.
  • Perform cleaning of grease lines as necessary.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the work area by managing product overflow, hosing down floors and machinery, and utilizing wheelbarrows and powered industrial vehicles for cleaning tasks.
  • Operate the cooking process within designated parameters to produce high-quality products.
  • Document operational activities in accordance with our GMP program.
  • Alert the shift manager regarding any operational issues or maintenance needs.
  • Participate in all required safety meetings.
  • Complete any additional tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or agricultural settings is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a rendering facility or similar production environment is advantageous.
  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Dependable and reliable, with the ability to work nights and/or weekends as required.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
  • Must be capable of standing for extended periods and occasionally working 12-hour shifts.
  • Occasionally lift items weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
