Job Title: Medical Office Associate/Billing Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Office Associate/Billing Specialist to join our team at Precise Research Centers. As a Medical Office Associate/Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for managing medical billing and coding functions, ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement from insurance companies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process insurance claims with individual carriers or agencies to maximize reimbursement.
  • Prepare, review, and send patient statements.
  • Respond to written, electronic, and telephone inquiries from patients and insurance companies regarding patient accounts.
  • Identify and resolve patient billing complaints.
  • Refund patient payments when necessary.
  • Post insurance payments, returned checks, fees, and patient payments to patient accounts.
  • Review each account via computer, reports, and payment sources.
  • Identify delinquent accounts, aging period, pay sources, and report status of delinquent accounts.
  • Notify physician of outstanding accounts prior to scheduling patient.
  • Make recommendations to supervisor and prepare information for collection agency.
  • Contact patient by telephone or meet with patient in clinic, evaluate patient financial status, and establish budget payment plans.
  • Receive and record credit card and other payments by telephone.
Requirements:
  • High School Graduate with college coursework preferred.
  • Two years' experience and working knowledge in medical billing functions of third-party payer systems, including Medicare and commercial insurance, is preferred.
  • Two years' experience working in a physicians' office is preferred, with the proven ability in the areas of multi-tasking, flexibility, telephone skills, customer service, time management, organization, attention to detail, scheduling, professionalism, and quality.
  • Previous experience in operation of office machinery, including a copier, fax, computer, and printer.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Valid certification in billing and coding or two years verified experience in medical billing.
Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is performed in an office environment. Frequent contact with insurance companies and staff with other providers. Patient contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people. Operates keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires occasional evening or weekend work.
