Position Overview

We are looking for a Senior Staff Engineer to enhance our Cloud Infrastructure teams. This role is ideal for a problem-solver who thrives in a collaborative environment. As a key member of our infrastructure engineering team, you will significantly influence the architecture and functionality of our cloud platforms, enabling engineers at SoFi to leverage exceptional platform-level systems. You will face complex challenges and work in a dynamic setting, driving solutions from conception to execution with a strong sense of ownership and commitment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer technical leadership and direction in the design, implementation, and maintenance of our cloud infrastructure and essential platform services.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to foster innovation and improve resilience and reliability.
  • Advance infrastructure as code (IaC) practices and contribute to the evolution of our cloud architecture.
  • Identify and rectify performance bottlenecks and inefficiencies within our cloud infrastructure.
  • Implement best practices to enhance resource utilization and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with fellow engineers, providing mentorship and knowledge sharing to elevate the team's technical expertise.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects and tasks in a results-oriented environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in software development.
  • Extensive experience in cloud infrastructure development, including AWS, containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), networking, service meshes (e.g., Istio), and streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis).
  • Strong programming foundation and skills in infrastructure automation.
  • Excellent writing and communication abilities.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Proficient in maintaining CI/CD pipelines and test automation.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with non-technical team members.
