About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Principal Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our team at Moderna Therapeutics. As a key member of our Cloud and Digital Infrastructure organization, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and deploying complex and performant software and computing infrastructure in a production environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead team projects and actively mentor and develop team members
  • Contribute to team architecture and define not only what we work on but why we should work on it
  • Troubleshoot complex problems and decompose difficult challenges into manageable work
  • Define and apply engineering, testing, and operational excellence standards to your team and the organization
  • Support customers through regular on-call duties and execute planned changes to maintain the environment
  • Partner with cross-organizations to drive improvements in supportability and maintainability of the platform and systems
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technology or scientific field, or 5 years of equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree
  • 4+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language, such as Python, Ruby, PowerShell, etc.
  • 6+ years of job-related experience in a non-internship role
  • 2+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems
  • Experience with modern full-stack software applications, both built and off the shelf
  • Experience documenting technical systems, user workflows, and user requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with traditional IT infrastructure as well as the Cloud, preferably AWS
  • Experience leading the design, build, and deployment of complex and performant software and computing infrastructure in a production environment
  • Experience taking a leading role in building complex software or computing infrastructure that has been successfully delivered to customers
  • Knowledge of and advocacy for engineer practices and patterns for the full life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and production operations
