Job Summary

Goodwill Central Texas is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Merchandise Processor to join our team. As a Merchandise Processor, you will play a critical role in receiving, sorting, pricing, processing, and preparing donated merchandise for display in our retail stores.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sort and process merchandise from containers to determine its suitability for the sales floor, adhering to established guidelines.
  • Roll and accurately stock merchandise on the sales floor, ensuring a visually appealing display.
  • Accurately and timely record and monitor donations, maintaining accurate inventory levels.
  • Stay up-to-date on brand name, designer labels, current, and vintage styles to effectively merchandise our products.
  • Sort apparel into boutique, sellable, and salvage categories according to quota, maximizing sales potential.
  • Place items on hangers, hang hangers on rolling racks, and transport them to the sales floor, maintaining a cohesive and organized display.
  • Maintain a pace that meets daily quota for processed pieces, ensuring efficient workflow.
  • Comply with safety and security practices, reporting hazards and injuries to the manager on duty.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to donors and customers, delivering friendly and engaging interactions.
  • Comply with all Goodwill Central Texas policies, including participating in store meetings and trainings.
  • Adhere to the work schedule set by the supervisor, ensuring seamless store operations.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including the production area.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, adhering to Goodwill uniform standards.
  • Communicate Goodwill Central Texas' mission and vision effectively to donors and customers.
  • Cross-train as necessary in other functions of store operations and assist as needed in other areas of the store.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Work a flexible schedule in support of store opening, production, and closing operations, including weekends and holidays.
  • A minimum of six months of previous work experience, or the equivalent educational or vocational experience, is preferred.
  • Must be able to follow directions well and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to problem-solve and provide exceptional customer service in a friendly and engaging manner.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds at times.
  • Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing for prolonged periods (up to 7 hours per 8-hour shift).
  • Frequently exposed to airborne particles while performing job duties.
