Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in software engineering with proficiency in Python or other object-oriented programming languages
  • Strong expertise in Python programming
  • Extensive software development experience in both product creation and testing
  • Ability to architect new software solutions and develop requirements documentation
  • Experience in developing and executing comprehensive test plans
  • Proficient in conducting both manual and automated testing
  • Familiarity with test-driven development methodologies
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with engineering teams and managing defects identified during testing
  • Knowledge of version control systems (GIT, Subversion, etc.)
  • Experience with bug tracking and requirements management tools (Jira, Jama, etc.)
  • Capability to develop cross-platform applications
  • Experience in testing embedded systems (hardware and software/firmware)

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of communication protocols such as CAN, USB, RS232, R485, Ethernet, etc.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication standards like MODBUS
  • Experience with laboratory equipment (power supplies, meters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for creating procedures, requirements, and reports
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities:

  • Engage in all phases of the software product development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, validation, and maintenance within an agile framework
  • Analyze, enhance, customize, and adapt existing products and solutions for testing electronic control and communication systems
  • Develop both software and hardware tools to automate test data collection and facilitate system configurations and troubleshooting
  • Create new test scripts using Python
  • Establish, monitor, and maintain automated testing scripts and frameworks
  • Utilize Agile Development methodologies in collaboration with project team members, participating in daily Scrum and tri-weekly Sprint meetings
  • Conduct periodic code reviews and maintain comprehensive documentation of the product under test/development
  • Test solutions in controlled environments prior to production release
  • Develop test and qualification strategies and procedures
  • Conduct industry research on emerging technologies and solutions
  • Configure automated tests for reliable and efficient execution in CI/CD environments
