Position Overview:

We are in search of a qualified Lead Employment Specialist responsible for facilitating the placement of young adults aged 17-24 into full-time employment opportunities. A minimum of 75% of the program's participants, who are out-of-school, unemployed, or underemployed, must come from areas significantly affected by high rates of gun violence. This initiative addresses gun violence as a public health issue and encompasses both immediate solutions and long-term strategies aimed at community-based intervention and prevention to disrupt the cycle of violence. A vital aspect of our prevention approach is ensuring access to and readiness for careers for out-of-school youth.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision and Staff Development

  • Oversee and assess the performance of assigned staff, providing development and training opportunities.
  • Participate in the recruitment process for new team members as needed.
  • Offer guidance and prioritization on work assignments for staff, ensuring meticulous attention to detail and compliance with deadlines.

Employer Engagement and Relationship Building

  • Manage and nurture partnerships with corporate and large business stakeholders.
  • Network with businesses of various sizes within the community to enhance engagement.
  • Conduct follow-ups with corporate partners to sustain and strengthen collaborations.
  • Create and present persuasive proposals to potential employers.
  • Research and identify new employer prospects to broaden engagement opportunities for program participants.

Workplace Skills Training & Workshops

  • Assist job developers in identifying and participating in industry-specific job fairs.
  • Support job developers in proactively maintaining a calendar for ongoing participant skill enhancement.

Data Management and Placements

  • Ensure timely and accurate entry of placement data.
  • Review reports for accuracy to guarantee informed participation and tracking.
  • Maintain organized files for compliance purposes.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with employers throughout the placement process.
  • Monitor contract deliverables to stay updated on progress and adherence to objectives.

Participant Engagement

  • Assist job developers by facilitating regular check-ins with participants.
  • Ensure participants remain on track with their placements and provide necessary support to guide them toward success.
