Position Overview:
The Substation Engineering Manager plays a pivotal role in enhancing client relationships within the designated region. This position involves providing leadership and mentorship to both direct and indirect reports while ensuring a high level of service delivery to electric utility clients. A commitment to community advancement and a proactive approach to project management are essential.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold PSE's core values in all interactions and project engagements.
  • Oversee complex projects and lead project teams under the guidance of a licensed professional engineer.
  • Engage actively in utility client projects, maintaining a targeted utilization rate.
  • Manage workloads and performance goals for direct reports, fostering professional development.
  • Strengthen relationships with electric utility clients and support business development initiatives.
  • Lead a team in delivering high-quality substation services in line with industry standards.
  • Direct and manage engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring quality and efficiency.
  • Enhance client satisfaction by addressing concerns and maintaining open communication.
  • Collaborate with various departments to meet the needs of regional electric utility clients.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, promoting a positive work environment.
  • Represent PSE at industry events to enhance client engagement and visibility.
  • Contribute to the recruitment of new team members who align with PSE's culture and values.
  • Assist in developing new service offerings that benefit both existing and prospective clients.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of ten years of relevant experience in substation design, operations, or project management.
  • Proven experience in leading technical teams and managing complex projects.

Skills:

  • Self-motivated with expertise in power system planning and operations.
  • Familiarity with applicable industry standards is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on client service.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
