Postdoctoral Researcher in Space Robotics

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the University of Cincinnati. The successful candidate will work on a cutting-edge project focusing on dynamic coupling effects in space manipulator systems used for In-Space or On-orbit Assembly and Manufacturing (ISAM or OSAM).

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct independent research experiments and analyze data within a particular field, utilizing pre-determined research scope and methodology.
  • Develop innovative ideas and approaches to enhance the current research and advance the field.
  • Prepare and present data summaries, reports, manuscripts, and presentations of research results for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations.
  • Assist with grant writing and contribute to manuscript preparation for scientific publications.
  • Maintain the laboratory and equipment, including ordering and tracking supplies, and ensuring adherence to laboratory safety protocols.
  • Mentor and train junior research staff in laboratory techniques and protocols.
  • Stay informed of the latest developments in the field to maintain and enhance professional expertise.
  • Participate in appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
  • Seek career and research advice from the faculty supervisor to develop and advance in the field.
Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Physics, or a related field.
  • Evidence of a good record of publications.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from various culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong understanding of spacecraft dynamics, robotic manipulator systems, and control theory.
  • Experience with simulation tools such as MATLAB, Python, and SolidWorks.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.
