Senior Mechanical Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity to join WSP as a Senior Mechanical Engineer, working closely with our Property and Buildings Team. As a key member of our team, you will be involved in projects that focus on sustainability and energy performance of the built environment.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will provide technical assistance and guidance for multi-site/phase due diligence, design, development, building, testing, and inspecting of mechanical systems on infrastructure, building, and construction projects in the public and private sector.
Key Responsibilities- Determine well-defined methods for collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, computer-generated reports, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.
- Perform professional mechanical engineering work and conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, resources, building, infrastructure, usage, and mechanical systems to determine conformance with applicable codes, standards, and construction or operating permits.
- Develop construction drawings and specifications, and review contractor cost estimates; prepare construction safety and phasing plans.
- Incorporate advanced technology, modeling techniques, concepts, design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies to account for the proper installation and functioning of equipment and systems according to specifications; implement future-ready solutions with mechanical engineering design standards.
- Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on various engineering, design, and construction issues relating to automatic temperature control systems, air distribution (supply, return, exhaust), hydronic systems (chilled water, heating water, etc.) and plumbing systems (domestic water, waste, vent, storm, etc.).
- Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team of engineers, planners, and scientific professionals to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects; assist with laying out installation of equipment; review costs and quantities of material/equipment/labor; ensure project work conforms with specifications, applicable codes, schematics, compliance documentation, and relevant standards.
- Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, technical drawings, spreadsheets, and illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.
- Assist with development and scoping of medium-sized projects.
- Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations to improve, prevent, control, restore, or address design and/or construction issues or opportunities.
- Assist in the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of data obtained during field investigations, offering input with developing action plans for moderate- to high-level risk installation, equipment operations, and/or mitigation activities.
- Comply with regulatory requirements pertaining to the data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record compliance and retention.
- Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
- Remain current in latest mechanical engineering techniques and practices.
- Work collaboratively with other engineers and planners on projects.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
