Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and flexible Dentist to join our enthusiastic dental team. As a Dentist at Lowell CHC, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality care to a diverse patient population, promoting a patient-centric environment, and utilizing best practices in dentistry.

Responsibilities
  1. Deliver culturally competent and high-quality care to patients of all ages, utilizing nationally accepted evidence-based clinical guidelines.
  2. Promote a patient-centric environment and foster high levels of patient satisfaction.
  3. Provide excellent customer service to patients and staff.
  4. Utilize best practices, evidenced-based dentistry, and ADA standards of care in guiding clinical practice, quality of care, and productivity goals.
  5. Improve patient well-being through accurate and timely diagnosis, high-quality dental treatment, and oral health prevention and education.
  6. Conduct intraoral and extraoral examinations with dental instruments, x-rays, and other diagnostic equipment to evaluate dental health, diagnose diseases or abnormalities, and plan appropriate treatments.
  7. Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, or malformations of teeth, gums, or related oral structures and provide preventive or corrective services.
  8. Perform various restorative and therapeutic procedures according to level of training, such as direct restorations, endodontic treatment, periodontal therapy, minor surgical procedures, crowns, and bridges.
  9. Record patient interactions in EHR as they occur to accurately and completely reflect the nature of the contact, condition of the patient, and care provided.
  10. Ensure accuracy, efficiency, and appropriate confidentiality with patient charting, recordkeeping, and administrative functions.
  11. Triage and perform emergency dental care.
  12. Ensure execution, proper follow-up, and continued care of patient treatment plans, including patients referred for specialty care.
  13. Participate in after-hours call coverage on a rotational basis, to triage and remotely treat dental emergencies as appropriate.
  14. Utilize and implement infection control measures to protect patients, staff, and self from infectious diseases.
  15. Assist Chief and other providers in support, direction, training, and oversight of staff and students by coaching and mentoring to achieve department objectives in the delivery of services to Lowell CHC staff and patients.
  16. Supervise the work of dental hygienists, limited license dentists as applicable, and dental assistants.
  17. Maintain open lines of communication with staff, peers, and supervisors.
  18. Promote a culture of innovation, learning, teamwork, and professional practice, prioritizing the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  19. Participate in departmental and organizational meetings.
  20. Participate in departmental quality assurance and performance improvement plans and participate in organization-wide improvement projects.
  21. Assist with adverse event root cause analysis as needed.
  22. Follow procedures and processes within departmental operations, in compliance with the Joint Commission, Massachusetts Department of Public Health, OSHA, and other state and federal regulations.
  23. Ensure all actions, job performance, personal conduct, and communications represent the organization in a highly professional manner at all times.
  24. Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
  25. All other duties as assigned and needed.
Qualifications
  • A current and valid licensure to practice dentistry by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is required.
  • D.M.D. or D.D.S. is required from a university-based dental education program accredited by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation (ADA CODA).
  • International Dentists are welcome to apply. Must be eligible to practice dentistry in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, including, if applicable, a minimum passing score on TOEFL or IELTS exam.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical practice of general dentistry is preferred.
  • Current CPR-BLS, MA controlled substance, and DEA numbers are required.
Physical Requirements
  1. Frequent standing and walking for up to 80% of the workday or shift.
  2. Some lifting, pushing, or pulling required up to 30 pounds.
  3. Ability to see and distinguish color.
  4. Ability to perform CPR (chest compressions).
Work Environment

Frequent contact with patients, families, visitors, nurses, and other department staff. Occasional requests to change work areas to cover another priority area to meet patient needs. Occasional stress and pressure caused by multiple simultaneous demands. May be exposed to various body fluids and/or infectious diseases. Universal precautions and techniques are included in orientation and the availability of protective wear is supported and encouraged when the employee is at risk for exposure.
