Job Summary

The Anesthesia Technician plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient-centered care by providing critical anesthesia support to the anesthesia clinician during surgical procedures.

As a member of the perioperative team, the Anesthesia Technician collaborates with the circulating RN and the perioperative team to ensure a safe and optimal patient perioperative experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepares and organizes equipment and supplies for scheduled and emergent cases in anesthetizing locations.
  • Reviews present and future surgical schedules to ensure anesthesia staff have the essential equipment and supplies necessary for routine and challenging cases.
  • Transports and sets up equipment needed for procedures, including laryngoscope blades, monitors, EKG cables, ETCO2 lines, pulse oximetry cables, temperature cables, and oxygen tanks/tubing.
  • Ensures equipment is decontaminated and in good working condition before each procedure.
  • Follows department procedures for proper procurement and handling of non-controlled medications, I.V. fluids, contrast media, and irrigating fluids in the surgical services area.
  • Performs thorough, prompt room turnover between procedures, including cleaning and disinfection, restocking of anesthesia supplies, and cleaning/storing of anesthesia equipment and instrumentation as needed.
  • Calibrates and troubleshoots minor malfunctions of anesthesia equipment.
  • Removes and reports all damaged or unsafe equipment.
  • Responds promptly to on-call situations as scheduled.
Requirements
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • High School Graduate / GED.
