Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Office Assistant to join our team at NYU Langone South Shore Neurologic AssociatesIslip. The successful candidate will provide exceptional front desk support for clinical intake operations, ensuring a seamless patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide basic front desk support for clinical intake operations
  • Pre-authorize and certify patient information, excluding surgical procedures
  • Screen telephone callers, handle calls, and take messages or direct callers to the appropriate person or area
  • Schedule routine appointments, follow-ups, and procedures that do not require pre-authorization
  • Collect and complete patient-related documents, including demographic information and insurance details
  • Assist patients in enrolling in Patient Secure, if necessary
  • Verify patient appointments and update the system accordingly
  • Maintain the schedule to ensure no gaps in scheduling
  • Perform patient check-in and check-out procedures
  • Gather patient demographic information and materials, including insurance details and ID cards
  • Collect co-pays and balances owed to the institution
  • Scan necessary documents, including insurance cards and lab requisitions, into the intake system
  • Monitor the intake work queue for timely completion
  • Ensure accurate procedure and diagnosis coding in pre-certification and verification processes
  • Assist patients with insurance coverage questions and refer them to the business office for financial matters
  • Maintain cooperative and professional relationships with physicians, nurses, and office staff
  • Perform typing tasks, including forms, letters, and envelopes
  • Answer patient questions and ensure understanding and satisfaction
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Organize and maintain files, including sorting and distributing documents
  • Process incoming and outgoing documents, including faxes and mail
  • Restock supplies and maintain a clean and organized workspace
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to complete multiple tasks efficiently
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, database, and internet applications
  • Light accurate keyboarding skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6 months of experience in a physician practice office
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of EPIC Ambulatory
