Job Overview

SUMMARY: Utilizes specialized expertise to evaluate risks, analyze clients' internal control frameworks, conduct assessments to identify and rectify accounting or reporting discrepancies, and prepare financial statements through the execution of the following responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts client audit engagement tasks under the guidance of Senior, Manager, Senior Manager, Director, or Partner, ensuring timely and high-quality service delivery.
  • Engages in pre-audit planning for smaller audit projects, reviews client accounting practices and internal control systems, and collaborates with clients to perform fieldwork at their locations to collect and assess necessary documentation for the engagement.
  • For less complex clients, assists in the preparation of financial statement reports, conducts analytical reviews of audit documentation, and compiles the documentation that supports audit conclusions.
  • Performs accounting research to address issues that arise during audit or compliance engagements.
  • Adheres to client timelines for audit fieldwork and report delivery.
  • Meets with client representatives to discuss inquiries, recommendations, and findings.
  • Prepares workpapers, composes audit reports, management letters, and other deliverables for clients.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of accounting and auditing standards, ensures compliance with both internal and external regulations, and stays informed of any updates.
  • Actively prepares for and undertakes the CPA examination until successful completion.
  • Maintains the required Continuing Professional Education (CPE) to meet Firm and licensing standards.
  • To meet client needs, may require 20-30% travel, with 10-15% involving overnight stays.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES:

May oversee junior Audit staff, which includes training team members, planning, assigning, and monitoring work, as well as evaluating performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To successfully perform this role, an individual must be capable of fulfilling each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited institution with a strong academic record (minimum GPA of 3.0); CPA certification preferred or demonstrated progress towards obtaining CPA certification; two years of relevant accounting or audit experience preferred.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, along with a working knowledge of office equipment, computer hardware, and peripheral devices. Familiarity with computer audit applications and technology, as well as Firm software applications and procedures. Develops proficiency with online research tools.

Additional Skills:

Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statements on Auditing Standards (SAS), and audit methodologies.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and communicate effectively. The employee frequently walks or uses hands to manipulate objects. Occasionally, the employee stands, reaches with hands and arms, and may stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet.
