Job Overview

SUMMARY: The Program Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing various projects from the Request for Quotation (RFQ) stage through to New Product Introduction (NPI) completion, while also providing ongoing support for production and quality assurance challenges. This position necessitates a robust background in injection molding and machining, coupled with a solid grasp of manufacturing methodologies. The Program Manager must be adept at interpreting engineering drawings, solid models, and customer specifications to fully grasp client needs. Additionally, this role requires exceptional communication and time management abilities to effectively support clients and collaborate with internal teams to achieve cost-effective and efficient outcomes.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Quoting & Estimating

  • Collaborate with team members to conduct business, capability, and capacity risk assessments, including Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Quality Assurance (QA) evaluations.
  • Develop innovative solutions to assist clients in meeting their requirements by researching and assessing technical options in materials and processes.
  • Provide accurate part quotes to clients, considering all manufacturing processes such as labor and materials to maximize product profitability.
  • Deliver Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) quotes for tools, fixtures, test runs, and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) reports as required by client specifications or industry standards.

New Product Introduction Processes

  • Collaborate with production teams to establish and refine manufacturing processes for the production of finished goods as per client specifications while adhering to cost expectations.
  • Coordinate and assess first article inspections, control plans, and work instructions for pilot production processes to ensure optimal processing parameters are achieved.
  • Responsible for creating and validating Bill of Materials (BOM) accuracy against quotes and actual processing performance.

Manufacturing

  • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) meetings and assist in the disposition of non-conforming products, while helping to develop solutions for a profitable, efficient, and repeatable manufacturing process.
  • Support Engineering Change Notice (ECN) and Engineering Change Order (ECO) workflows by coordinating part number revisions, including modifications and material changes.
  • Assist in the analysis and diagnosis of root causes and contribute to the development of manufacturing solutions.

Project Management

  • Lead project planning efforts, demonstrating the ability to adapt and modify plans as circumstances evolve.
  • Set priorities effectively and maintain organization in a dynamic, multifaceted work environment.
  • Utilize planning and workflow tools as necessary, including project timelines, Gantt charts, flow charts, and costed BOMs.
  • Balance customer needs with Altek's business objectives.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with Altek employees, clients, and suppliers.
  • Collaborate effectively, treating colleagues with respect and professionalism.
  • Exhibit strong communication and behavioral skills.
  • Support the corporate sales team by providing technical assistance related to account development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of Program Management experience in manufacturing sectors, with a strong preference for machining and injection molding experience.
  • Ability to navigate and manage multiple programs simultaneously.
  • Quick adaptability to shifting priorities.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and collaborate with diverse personality types and skill levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with ERP systems is highly advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks and other related CAD software.
