Key Responsibilities:
This advanced role necessitates a minimum of six years of experience in the commercial construction sector. The incumbent will act as a Subject Matter Expert for new construction and significant maintenance projects across institutional facilities statewide. Responsibilities include:
- Leading teams on various projects involving plumbing, electrical systems, cabinetry, masonry, HVAC, drywall, roofing, and other essential systems for major institutions.
- Providing training to General Maintenance staff within correctional institutions.
- Overseeing construction projects executed by agency personnel and inmate labor.
- Managing projects conducted by contractors.
- Assisting in the development of programs for the Florida Department of Corrections.
- Offering professional guidance to institutions and aiding in budget request preparations.
- Participating in the selection and evaluation of Architectural/Engineering consultants and Construction Management firms.
- Administering project-related tasks, including payment requests, invoices, schedules, and plan reviews.
- Preparing and monitoring project timelines, budgets, and fund allocations.
- Ensuring compliance with approved budgets.
- Traveling to various institutions to support project completion.
Required Qualifications:
- At least six years of professional experience in the commercial construction field.
- A minimum of three years of proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possession of a Florida commercial contractor's license in one or more building trades.
- Formal education or training in construction management, architecture, or engineering.
- Experience related to security issues concerning inmates and tools on construction sites.
- At least three years of project management experience.
