Position Summary:

The Security Department's primary mission is to maintain the safety and security of both patrons and employees, protect assets, and oversee property. Security personnel are responsible for monitoring all areas of the facility, including the interior and exterior as required. It is important to note that our security staff do not engage in law enforcement activities or use force to fulfill their responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant security experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable:

  • One (1) year of supervisory experience in a security role.
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent educational experience.
  • Background in law enforcement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess staffing needs, plan and oversee on-the-job training, and continuously evaluate personnel for alertness, appearance, and performance.
  • Respond to all assistance requests and emergencies, reporting concerns to the Security Director and relevant department heads.
  • Investigate guest and employee complaints, collaborating with Surveillance on video-related matters.
  • Prepare and deliver both written and verbal reports.
  • Engage with emergency services and external resources as necessary to manage incidents.
  • Ensure that all security equipment and assets are operational, reporting any maintenance needs to the Security Director.
  • Provide coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions within established guidelines.
  • Must possess the ability to obtain and maintain a Kentucky Horse Racing Commission license.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to fostering a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in English; bilingual in Spanish is advantageous.
  • Willingness to deliver friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service.
  • Able to collaborate effectively with team members.

Physical Requirements:

The role may require occasional lifting or moving of up to 40 lbs. Employees must be able to sit for extended periods, as well as stand, walk, and perform various physical tasks. The position involves exposure to varying temperatures, necessitating movement between indoor and outdoor environments throughout different seasons.
