Job Overview

This role is pivotal within the Department of Rehabilitation and focuses on delivering essential services to individuals seeking vocational rehabilitation.

As a Senior Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, you will work under the guidance of the Team Manager, ensuring the effective provision of services to clients within a Vocational Rehabilitation Service Delivery Team. Your primary responsibilities will encompass the following critical functions:

  1. Assessing eligibility for vocational rehabilitation services.
  2. Establishing service priorities.
  3. Crafting the Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE).
  4. Modifying the IPE as necessary.
  5. Evaluating successful employment outcomes and managing case closures for clients.

You will provide counseling to individuals with disabilities, employing various techniques to help them adapt to their circumstances. This includes identifying barriers to employment and developing strategies to promote independent living and equal opportunities. You will also interpret and apply relevant federal and state regulations to each client’s situation.

Collaboration is key in this role; you will coordinate with the VR team to determine assessment needs and service delivery for clients. You will finalize eligibility determinations, prioritize services, and oversee the approval of IPEs and amendments. Additionally, you will maintain accurate Records of Services documentation in the electronic tracking system.

Key Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must include the job reference number on your application. A Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or a closely related field is required, along with successful completion of a graduate course focused on counseling theories and techniques. Exceptional interpersonal skills and reliability are essential attributes for this role.

Bilingual capabilities are advantageous but not mandatory. This position may offer a hybrid telework option in accordance with departmental policies, requiring in-office attendance as needed.
