Position Overview:
Intake Specialists are responsible for conducting intake, eligibility, and initial assessments. They provide labor market information, assist with navigation of the Comprehensive AJCC and partner systems, and facilitate informational workshops along with other essential career services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome clients, identify their needs, and guide them through the next steps.
- Provide detailed information about available services, including accessibility and referral processes.
- Manage phone communications, including answering calls, taking messages, and directing inquiries to appropriate staff.
- Coordinate assessments to determine the suitability and eligibility of job seekers for services.
- Conduct individual and group intake sessions regularly and organize offsite intake events as needed.
- Communicate program details to applicants while maintaining a thorough understanding of necessary documentation.
- Respond to inquiries and follow up with clients as required.
- Track enrollments and report relevant information to colleagues and management.
- Review documentation to verify eligibility before submission.
- Utilize application tools and databases for participant enrollment and performance reporting.
- Collaborate with the Career Coach team to ensure timely onboarding and follow-up of new clients.
- Work collaboratively within a team while also making independent decisions regarding client needs.
- Perform additional support duties as assigned, with opportunities for cross-training.
Requirements:
Previous experience in direct customer service is essential, with the ability to manage a diverse client population facing various employment barriers. Candidates should possess strong initiative in researching information for staff and clients, as well as excellent interviewing skills for conducting initial assessments.
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or another community language is preferred but not mandatory. An associate degree in business, social work, or a related field is desirable, though experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Attention to detail and timeliness are critical, along with knowledge of WIOA common measures and requirements. Candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, and demonstrate a friendly demeanor with flexibility in working hours.
Physical Demands:
While performing the essential functions of this role, the incumbent must be able to stand and sit for extended periods, bend and reach for filing, and perform various physical tasks as needed. Visual acuity for close work and manual dexterity for operating office equipment are required.

Salary: $22 to $23 per hour
