Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Health Specialist Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our public health team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and supervision to a team of environmental health professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative, programmatic, and performance management support to the environmental health program.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of environmental health professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality services.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Investigate environmental complaints and perform inspections as assigned.
  • Provide guidance and advice on personnel matters, problems of a highly technical nature, and complex problems that have a potential for litigation.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the technical aspects of environmental health and ability to provide effective supervision and leadership.
  • Certifications of the Environmental Health Specialist Senior are required if performing inspections or evaluations of that level.
  • The Environmental Health Technical Specialist certifications are preferred but required if performing the duties.
  • A valid State Driver's License is required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience related to the duties of the position or experience in environmental health.
