Position Overview:
AECOM's Portland Transportation division is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Civil Engineer specializing in railway, roadway, highway, and civil site design.
This position is integral to our established surface transportation team, engaging with a diverse range of transportation clients and projects across AECOM's West Region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and development of roadway systems.
- Engagement in transportation and multi-modal planning initiatives.
- Oversight of construction management and safety evaluations.
- Collaboration with colleagues on rail and transit infrastructure projects for various governmental entities.
- Acting as a senior technical resource and advisor within the team.
- Providing specialized technical insights to studies and designs relevant to your area of expertise.
- Formulating study and design protocols to ensure high-quality, cost-effective outcomes.
- Participating in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
- Creating construction cost estimates and technical effort assessments for projects.
- Utilizing expertise in all phases of completing discipline components of PS&E packages.
- Conducting quality control reviews of design calculations and drawings.
- Drafting technical specification sections.
- Contributing to the development of engineering budgets and schedules to meet project requirements.
- Directly supervising junior staff members.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Possession of an Oregon Professional Engineer License or the ability to obtain one within six months.
Experience in the design and production of plans for transportation and civil infrastructure projects, including calculations.
Prior experience in designing railroads, highways, and roadways for transportation initiatives.
Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment in problem-solving.
Proficiency in InRoads and/or Civil 3D design software for conceptual and detailed design of horizontal and vertical alignments, sections, and 3D modeling on rail and/or highway projects.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Experience in Design-Build projects is preferred.
