About Bridgeport Caribe Youth League Inc
The Math and Reading Tutoring Initiative aims to create a supportive atmosphere, equipping students with the necessary tools and motivation to enhance their proficiency in Mathematics and Reading comprehension.
With a focus on a low tutor-to-student ratio, we ensure personalized attention tailored to each student's unique requirements while maintaining a high-quality educational framework accessible to all, irrespective of their financial circumstances.
New tutors are expected to participate in 1-2 orientation and training sessions, in addition to committing to all scheduled tutoring sessions, primarily held on Saturdays.
The Tutoring Initiative operates in alignment with the academic calendar, featuring three distinct sessions: September to November, January to March, and April to June. Following the guidelines established by health authorities, all sessions will take place on Saturday mornings from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The program is dedicated to enhancing skills in Mathematics, reading comprehension, and creative writing. Tutoring sessions will commence at 9:00 AM and conclude at 12:30 PM, followed by a debriefing session with the Director to evaluate student progress and strategize for future sessions.
Qualifications:
Tutors should possess a foundational understanding of elementary, middle, or high school Mathematics and Reading curricula, along with the ability to engage students effectively. Class sizes will typically average four students per tutor, and tutors are expected to provide supplemental study materials based on the curriculum.
Materials Provided:
Tutors will receive teaching materials relevant to the grade levels they are assigned to instruct.

Ideal candidates should:
- Exhibit self-motivation, responsibility, friendliness, diligence, and professionalism.
- Have the ability to inspire and connect with students ranging from grammar to middle school levels. Previous experience with younger students is advantageous.
· Be comfortable leading small group discussions.
· Demonstrate proficiency in Mathematics, reading comprehension, writing, and grammar. Majors in Mathematics, Education, English, Art, Psychology, and Engineering are particularly encouraged to apply.
- Communicate effectively with both students and staff at Bridgeport Caribe Youth League Inc.
- Possess a strong academic record. A GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred but not mandatory.
- Preferred candidates should have creative skills in arts and crafts, S.T.E.M. projects, and public speaking.
- Be available for all required training sessions, Saturday classes, and debrief meetings with the Education Director.
