Gas and Diesel Mechanic Job Description

First Student is seeking a skilled Gas and Diesel Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of our fleet of vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel and gas-powered vehicles, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections.
  • Diagnose and repair complex vehicle and equipment issues.
  • Ensure work orders are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Participate in the ASE certification program and maintain a high level of technical expertise.
Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license required; willingness to obtain CDL while employed.
  • At least 5 years of diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education with some automotive experience.
  • Possess a mechanic's tool set.
  • Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program.
Benefits:

  • Additional $0.20 per hour for each ASE certification.
  • $3,500 sign-on bonus.
