About the Gas and Diesel Mechanic Position

First Student is seeking a skilled Gas and Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Niagara Falls, North Tonawanda, Erie County, Amherst, Lasalle, Maryvale, and Niagara County School Districts

As a Gas and Diesel Mechanic with First Student, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of vehicles, including Ford Transits, Chevy Suburbans, Chevy Express vans, Freightliner C2 & International conventional school buses.

  • Assist with preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections.
  • Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle and equipment repair, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, & transmissions.
  • Ensure work orders are completed accurately.
  • Assist with mobile emergency services.
Requirements for the Gas and Diesel Mechanic Position
  • Valid driver's license required; willingness to obtain CDL while employed – We train.
  • At least 5 years of diesel maintenance & repair experience or technical school education with some automotive experience.
  • Possess a mechanic's tool set.
  • Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program. Training, testing, and bonuses are provided.
  • Subject to DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive employee.
