Job Overview

Position Summary

The Great Plains Tribal Leaders Health Board Inc is looking for a proficient Rheumatologist to enhance our medical team. This role focuses on the assessment and management of patients suffering from rheumatic illnesses, autoimmune disorders, and musculoskeletal issues. Your specialized knowledge will be essential in delivering holistic care, alleviating symptoms, and enhancing patient well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with rheumatic diseases, autoimmune conditions, and musculoskeletal disorders, including thorough medical histories, physical examinations, and necessary diagnostic evaluations.
  • Establish precise diagnoses through clinical evaluations, laboratory findings, imaging studies, and other diagnostic tools, and create individualized treatment strategies tailored to each patient's requirements.
  • Administer evidence-based medical treatments for rheumatic conditions, which may involve prescribing medications such as disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs), biologic agents, corticosteroids, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), alongside recommending lifestyle changes and physical therapy.
  • Perform joint injections and other therapeutic procedures for pain relief and inflammation control, utilizing ultrasound or fluoroscopy guidance as needed.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including primary care providers, orthopedic specialists, physical therapists, and occupational therapists, to ensure integrated care and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients and their families regarding their conditions, treatment alternatives, medication management, potential side effects, and self-care strategies.
  • Engage in clinical research, educational initiatives, and quality improvement projects in the field of rheumatology, contributing to the advancement of medical practices and patient care.
  • Maintain precise and current medical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, medication orders, and follow-up recommendations, utilizing electronic health record systems.
  • Stay informed about advancements in rheumatology research, new treatment options, and clinical guidelines through continuous professional development, attending conferences, and reviewing relevant literature.
  • Uphold ethical standards, professional conduct, and patient confidentiality in all aspects of clinical practice.

Education and Experience

  • Doctorate degree or equivalent experience; or a master's degree with five years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree with seven years of progressively responsible experience. Management roles require at least five years of supervisory experience and three years in senior management.
  • Must possess a valid medical license and be Board Certified in Rheumatology.
