We are seeking an experienced Transportation Planning Specialist to join our team at Lochner. As a key member of our infrastructure development team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of urban mobility.
Key Responsibilities- Develop diversified knowledge of transportation planning principles across a broad range of projects.
- Experience developing multimodal transportation plans, including Active Transportation Plans, Complete Streets Plans, Corridor Plans, and Safety Plans.
- Define regional or local transportation planning issues or improvement priorities, and develop strategies to address them.
- Understand local, state, and federal transportation funding sources, and assist in securing grants and funding for projects.
- Conduct market research and analysis to inform transportation planning decisions.
- Lead community engagement activities to ensure that transportation plans meet the needs of local communities.
- Represent clients and the firm at project meetings, open houses, and public hearings.
- Oversee quality assurance and quality control throughout the planning process.
- Interface with clients as part of business development and project negotiation efforts.
- Clearly communicate transportation plans and strategies through drawings, documents, reports, and verbal exchange.
- Experience with NCDOT's environmental process and documentation requirements.
- Working knowledge of Travel Demand Management (TDM) strategies and program development.
- Ability to team build and provide project, program, and office leadership.
- 15 years minimum experience in transportation planning.
- Bachelor's degree in urban planning, engineering, urban geography, or related field.
- Experience in development of multi-modal plans, including but not limited to Active Transportation Plans, Complete Streets Plans, Corridor Plans, and Safety Plans.
- Demonstrated experience on aspects of project and client management, project development, business development.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior staff, orchestrate project teams of various sizes and skills, and manage staff and subconsultants across multiple offices and locations.
