Job Overview

An Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Technician I plays a vital role in the development and maintenance of complex electronic systems at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. The successful candidate will assist journey-level technicians in a wide range of tasks, including the installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic equipment and regulatory instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation and maintenance of electronic equipment, including pressure transducers, flowmeters, and motor-operated valves.
  • Troubleshooting and repair of complex electronic systems, including SCADA systems and programmable logic controllers.
  • Assistance with the installation and maintenance of regulatory instrumentation, including turbidimeters and chlorine analyzers.
  • Performing routine maintenance and repairs in a treatment plant environment and in District distribution facilities throughout the Orange County Service Area.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or high school equivalency certificate and completion of 15 semester units in electronics from an accredited college, university, vocational, or military school.
  • Valid California Class C Drivers License or equivalent.
  • Certifications in forklift and manlift operation.
  • Color vision and ability to identify and distinguish colors.
