Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Organizer to join our team at the Tenderloin Housing Clinic. As a Community Organizer, you will work closely with our CEOP & La Voz Program Manager to coordinate with clients, conduct outreach, and provide support to low-income tenants in the Tenderloin and SOMA areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct client outreach and education on habitability issues, tenant rights, and available resources.
  • Work with tenants to improve living conditions in designated buildings and provide support with filing San Francisco Rent Board Petitions.
  • Collaborate with community-based organizations on housing and habitability campaigns.
  • Organize meetings and workshops to educate tenants on their rights and provide support with code enforcement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
  • Provide referrals to clients and connect them to relevant services offered by CBOs and government agencies.
  • Respond to client requests, staff requests, and emails in a timely and professional manner.
Requirements
  • High School degree required; BA/BS degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with and on behalf of low-income tenants.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to complete paperwork accurately.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply language from governmental regulations, manuals, policies, technical procedures, and instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with diverse, homeless, and/or formerly homeless populations.
  • Experience in community organizing and campaign development.
  • Experience working in non-profit or public sector preferred.
