Range is seeking a highly skilled Data Services Technician to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of telecommunications services, cabling, customer premise equipment, field equipment, and terminals. Your expertise will be essential in troubleshooting, isolating, and performing repairs on defective equipment in the network.
Key Responsibilities- Install and transfer services for voice, data, special circuits, ethernet, and other non-regulated services offered by Range.
- Review staking sheets or maps to install services as designed by Network Engineers.
- Perform work with appropriate tools and hardware to meet all applicable codes and safety requirements.
- Install, repair, and maintain copper or fiber cables in aerial or buried applications and terminate cables using industry standards.
- Install subscriber carrier systems, including digital, analog, and next-generation carrier systems.
- Repair and maintain plant equipment, including buried cables, aerial cables, and access/transport carrier systems.
- Coordinate with other technical personnel to diagnose or identify and locate defective equipment.
- Perform basic building maintenance and repairs, including HVAC systems and generators.
- Document all installation and repair-related forms and reports.
- Communicate with other departments on service installations/repairs delivered and advise on necessary updates for billing, facility records, and other company files.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of work experience performing telecommunications data services-related functions.
- Valid, state-issued, and insurable driver's license.
- Pole and tower climbing certificates may be required in some areas.
- Class A CDL Tower Certification.
- Pole Certification.
- Technical school or 2-year/associate degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Radio, and/or Construction.
- Information Technology-related knowledge, including networking concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Analytical skills, including observing and assessing situations and determining how to respond.
- Project management skills, including organizing the planning process and developing detailed project schedules.
- Problem-solving skills, including analyzing and interpreting situations and solving problems using knowledge and skills.
