About the Role

The University of North Texas System is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director of Operations to join our team. As a key member of the executive leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Institute for Translational Research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the efficient execution of the business plan of the Institute and establish and implement business standards for the Institute.
  • Facilitate the successful operational performance of the institution and provide leadership, strategic vision, long-range planning, and coordination of all budget, operational, and technology-related functions.
  • Implement Institute-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operations planning.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and other members of the Executive team in driving operations strategy and translating strategy into actionable steps for growth.
  • Analyze internal operations and identify areas for process improvement with a focus on increasing operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Oversee the hiring process and overall management of all personnel, excluding any other personnel reporting directly to the Executive Director.
  • Support, mentor, and develop leaders who possess skills and perspectives necessary and consistent with an institution-wide succession planning process, to possibly assume this role.
Requirements
  • Master's degree and eight years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and solving complex operational problems.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, and the ability to translate data into clear and simple messages for a wide range of audiences.
  • Superb interpersonal skills, including the ability to generate respect and trust from colleagues, direct reports, and external constituents.
  • Ability to maintain calm and steadiness during times of crisis or stress.
  • Ability to provide long-term, inspirational vision while simultaneously creating pragmatic solutions to day-to-day problems.
