Critical Care Veterinary Nurse

Position Overview:
The ICU Veterinary Nurse plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive care for sick and injured animals within a veterinary teaching facility. This position is integral to the Emergency and Critical Care unit, where the nurse will guide and mentor students, veterinary technicians, and veterinarians in various medical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality patient care to animals in critical condition.
- Instruct and demonstrate medical techniques to students and staff.
- Maintain an organized and sanitary environment in all hospital areas.
- Manage supplies and equipment necessary for patient care.
- Work a schedule consisting of three 13-hour shifts, including rotating weekends and holidays.
Qualifications:
Candidates should possess knowledge typically gained through two to three years of college or technical education in Veterinary Technology. A minimum of six months to one year of relevant experience in patient care, surgery, anesthesia, and sterilization is required. Proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing software is essential. Candidates must be licensed as a Veterinary Technician in the State of Michigan or be able to obtain such certification within one year of employment.

Physical Demands:
