Nurse Practitioner

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) Wound Ostomy Care Registered Nurse (RN) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care, demonstrating leadership, experience, and creative approaches to the management of complex wound care patients.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinates care by serving as an expert clinician and patient/resident advocate in wound management, which may include ostomy and continence care.
- Provides specialized wound consultation and collaboration with providers, peers, and others in healthcare to develop, implement, and assure continuity of individualized treatment plans throughout the continuum of care.
- Leads and implements changes that enhance the quality and timeliness of Veteran/patient care, applying research and evidence in the delivery of healthcare for patient populations.
- Initiates and leads interdisciplinary teams informed by structured approaches and processes to improve outcomes that positively impact care for a patient panel, population, or program.
- Monitors effectiveness of education provided and assures evidence-based current content of education.
- Defines process for procuring wound therapies, products, and supplies for the IPIC and clinical staff to facilitate timely implementation of wound treatment and management strategies.
- Collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines.
- Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) Basic Requirements
- English Language Proficiency
- Education: A post-master's certificate or master's or doctoral degree as a Nurse Practitioner
- License and Certification: Active, current, full, and unrestricted APN license to practice as an NP in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
- Basic Certification: Full and current board certification in an area of clinical specialty from one of the following: the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB), or other nationally recognized certifying body in the area in which the Nurse Practitioner is academically prepared
This position is in the Excepted Service and does not confer competitive status. The health-related positions in VA are covered by Title 38, and are not covered by the Schedule A excepted appointment authority.
