Career Opportunity:

Caterpillar is seeking a skilled Fabrication Production Manager to oversee and coordinate the activities of a complex production line. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing schedules, resolving issues, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Run a small business unit for People, Quality, Velocity, and Cost
  • Monitor and improve shop floor safety, aggressively eliminate unsafe processes
  • Assure fixtures, tooling, and processes are followed to meet production schedules
  • Determine priorities and sequences jobs
  • Schedule and prioritize constrained resources, and adjust staffing to meet flow and customer requirements
  • Determine and execute disciplinary action when appropriate
  • Procure and distribute production material to meet schedules
  • Ensure preventive maintenance is performed according to schedule
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, Internal Certification, and others
  • Evaluate, assess, identify, and lead the deployment of workforce training
  • Practice and teach CPS Guiding Principles
  • Initiate and conduct process improvement dialogs with Team Leads and Team Members
  • Drive root cause corrective action projects and drive continuous improvement
  • Lead section status reporting and monitor/audit section metrics
  • Lead the creation, implementation, and training of standard work procedures
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in Manufacturing Operations: Knowledge of manufacturing operations; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility for products.
  • A working knowledge of Production Training: Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for delivering formal and informal training on the safe and efficient operation of production machinery; ability to conduct effective formal and situation-specific training.
  • A working knowledge in Process Improvement: Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods and ability to maintain focus on the continuous improvement of processes, products, and services.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A 4-year degree in a manufacturing discipline
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing-related field
  • Experience in multiple manufacturing support disciplines
  • Experience managing teams to production, budgetary, and efficiency targets
