Career Opportunity: Fabrication Production Manager

Caterpillar is seeking a skilled Fabrication Production Manager to oversee and coordinate the activities of a complex production line. This role requires strong leadership and problem-solving skills to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Run a small business unit for People, Quality, Velocity, and Cost
  • Monitor and improve shop floor safety, eliminating unsafe processes
  • Ensure fixtures, tooling, and processes are followed to meet production schedules
  • Determine priorities and sequences jobs
  • Schedule and prioritize constrained resources, adjusting staffing to meet flow and customer requirements
  • Determine and execute disciplinary action when necessary
  • Procure and distribute production material to meet schedules
  • Ensure preventive maintenance is performed according to schedule
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, and other process improvement initiatives
  • Evaluate, assess, and lead workforce training
  • Practice and teach Caterpillar's Guiding Principles
  • Initiate and conduct process improvement dialogs with Team Leads and Team Members
  • Drive root cause corrective action projects and continuous improvement
  • Lead section status reporting and monitor/audit section metrics
  • Lead the creation, implementation, and training of standard work procedures
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in Manufacturing Operations, with knowledge of manufacturing operations and ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility
  • A working knowledge of Production Training, with ability to conduct effective formal and situation-specific training
  • A working knowledge of Process Improvement, with understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A 4-year degree in a manufacturing discipline
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing-related field
  • Experience in multiple manufacturing support disciplines
  • Experience managing teams to production, budgetary, and efficiency targets
