Position: Automotive Technician
Salary:
As an Automotive Technician, you will be responsible for conducting essential mechanical repairs to ensure the optimal functionality and safety of our fleet vehicles. You will engage in various projects as assigned and adhere to established protocols.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilize diagnostic tools to assess mechanical issues in vehicles.
- Execute both minor and major mechanical repairs.
- Perform welding and minor bodywork tasks.
- Service vehicles in accordance with a predetermined preventive maintenance schedule, including tire rotation and balancing, oil and filter changes, lubrication of vehicle components, and inspection and replacement of hoses, belts, mirrors, and lights.
- Maintain precise and updated records of all preventive maintenance activities.
- Inspect vehicles to evaluate the condition of systems, equipment, accessories, and lighting; provide service as necessary.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on shop equipment, including bleeding air tanks, according to established timelines.
- Operate tools, equipment, and machinery while adhering to safety protocols.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing.
- Identify and rectify unsafe conditions in the workplace, reporting any non-correctable issues to the supervisor immediately.
- Assist in maintaining shops, equipment, and tools in safe working order.
- Keep accurate records of time and materials used for repairs and services.
- Be available to work irregular hours as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid driver's license (Class D).
- Certification as a Diesel Mechanic.
- Capability to diagnose mechanical issues and perform repairs under general supervision.
- Proficiency in operating tools and equipment related to vehicle repair.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and vehicle components.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent educational background.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Confined Space Certified Entrant/Attendant.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:
- Work will take place both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme cold.
- Potential hazards include working near heavy tools, moving machinery, exposure to chemicals, and high noise levels.
