Acuren Inspection, Inc. is seeking a Pipeline Integrity Lead Technician to enhance operations.
The Pipeline Integrity Technician will operate autonomously for extended durations in remote locations, providing essential support for client programs.
The primary responsibilities include conducting calibrations, performing nondestructive testing (NDT), and executing evaluations for acceptance or rejection based on established protocols while meticulously documenting results. Additional tasks may involve specialized tests beyond standard NDT requirements.
Specific examples of responsibilities include soil sampling, pH measurements, cathodic protection assessments, coating condition evaluations, pit depth gauging, and calculating R-Streng/KAPPA values. Familiarity with the scope and limitations of the employed testing and inspection methods is crucial.
Key Responsibilities:
• Set up and operate nondestructive testing equipment, including magnetic yokes, ultrasonic thickness gauges, and ultrasonic flaw detectors.
• Calibrate nondestructive testing instruments.
• Conduct tests to ensure quality and identify discontinuities (defects) using various NDT inspection methods.
• Develop techniques for thorough examination of inspected objects, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
• Apply testing criteria in line with relevant specifications or standards and assess results.
• Organize and document test outcomes.
• Perform specialized inspections as required.
• Review pipeline integrity inspection reports and assist other technicians with documentation.
• Participate in operational meetings with engineering and project management teams.
• Maintain effective communication channels between clients and pipeline integrity technicians.
• Update pipeline integrity databases and manage data transfer protocols.
• Monitor the status of priority excavations and ensure compliance with client specifications for inspections and testing.
• Support technician training initiatives.
• Assist with excavation package preparation and cost estimation.
• Track metrics related to reporting, costs, and productivity.
• Address technical challenges encountered in the field.
• Report findings from investigations.
• May instruct and oversee other personnel.
• Undertake additional job-related tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
• A post-secondary degree in an engineering or technical discipline is preferred.
• Level II certifications in PT, MT, and UT II Shear wave with Advanced Sizing & Detection Technique or higher are required.
• In-depth knowledge of the pipeline industry, particularly in pipeline integrity inspections, is essential.
• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Proven interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Technical proficiency and meticulous attention to detail are critical for this role.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (including Word and Excel).
• Capable of managing and organizing extensive and diverse data sets.
• Experience in report and scientific writing is advantageous.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus.
• A solid technical background in NDT methods and procedures is necessary.
• Demonstrated capability to effectively execute assigned NDT tasks and interpret inspection results.
