Position Overview:

The Electrical Reliability Engineer (ERE) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and dependability of electrical systems within the operational framework. Reporting directly to the Mill Reliability Leader, the ERE is tasked with overseeing the reliability of electrical apparatus, which encompasses power distribution equipment such as transmission lines, circuit breakers, transformers, and motors, in addition to control and communication systems including motor controls, drives, and PLCs.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Devote approximately 60% of time to execution and 40% to strategic improvement initiatives.
  • Establish and implement effective maintenance strategies for all electrical equipment to avert failures and guarantee safe operations.
  • Enhance equipment reliability through the application of Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodologies.
  • Address and rectify issues stemming from Preventable Chronic Failures (PCFs), Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFAs), and Constrained Area Downtime (CADT) events.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance schedules, including inspections and repairs of power, control, and communication systems.
  • Collaborate with the Capital Team to develop and execute capital projects.
  • Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) efforts to identify underlying issues and implement corrective measures.
  • Continuously refine asset maintenance strategies to minimize unscheduled downtime.
  • Conduct audits of Equipment Care (EC) systems to ensure compliance and facilitate ongoing improvements.
  • Champion Predictive Maintenance (PdM) initiatives within designated areas.
  • Review and update criticality assessments and conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEAs).
  • Oversee small-scale capital reliability enhancement projects from inception to completion.
  • Develop Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QAQC) programs tailored to specific asset classes.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 5 years in the Power/Fiber or Paper sectors. Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical issues within a manufacturing context is essential. Additional qualifications include:

  • Yellow Belt certification or higher is preferred.
  • Strong command skills and a results-driven mindset.
  • Customer-focused approach with the ability to build effective teams.
  • Competence in managing and measuring work outcomes.
  • Strategic agility and sound business acumen.
