About the Role:

HKS is seeking a highly skilled Senior Interior Designer to join our Venues Interiors team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team in planning and developing design solutions for clients, ensuring timely and budget-friendly delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients through a deep understanding of their project goals, policies, and needs.
  • Develop and implement interior design concepts that meet client vision and architectural requirements.
  • Utilize creative thinking to achieve innovative design solutions.
  • Manage client expectations, team communications, and consultant coordination to meet project objectives.
  • Prepare and review detailed implementation documents, including interior plans, fixture plans, elevations, and details.
  • Supervise the preparation of design details and drawings by project team members, maintaining quality control with a focus on design.
  • Generate project documents and schedules, manage finances, and ensure projects stay on schedule.
  • Collaborate in the development of cost estimates for design proposals.
  • Participate in all design phases, including programming client needs, conceptual and schematic design, design development, document preparation, and construction administration.
  • Work with others to enhance the design by specializing in FF&E sourcing, selection, custom design, and specification.
  • Attend on-site visits, field reviews, and project meetings.
  • Participate in and may lead team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues, and coordination with other disciplines.
  • Invest in the professional development of staff through mentoring, motivating, performance management, and career planning.
  • Develop, recognize, recruit, and grow diverse talent.
  • Manage conflict effectively and encourage a healthy team environment.
  • Collaborate in managing projects to satisfy requirements from budget and schedule perspectives while delivering a quality work product.
  • Support and may lead the business development process by identifying new opportunities, marketing current clients for repeat business, and assisting with proposals, budgets, and schedules.
  • Identify, maintain, and cultivate essential relationships.
  • May lead the proposal preparation process and participate in negotiation of scope and fees on contracts.
  • May participate in marketing interviews.

Requirements:

  • Accredited professional degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • NCIDQ certification required.
  • Experience with the entire project lifecycle, through post-occupancy.
  • Sustainable design accreditation preferred.
  • Typically 15+ years of experience.
  • Proficiency in software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, and SketchUp preferred.
  • Understanding of 3D Studio Max and InDesign preferred.
  • Working knowledge of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) software preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines.
  • Advanced knowledge of FF&E to carry out design intent.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, drawings, and models.
  • Strong graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas.
  • Experience with managing and performing duties in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner both verbally and in writing.
