Job Title: Data Management Analyst

The Commonwealth of Virginia seeks a highly skilled Data Management Analyst to lead data management and analysis across various survey projects at the University of Virginia.

About the Role

As a Data Management Analyst, you will be responsible for coordinating with the Principal Investigator and Project Coordinator to define analysis needs, set schedules, and ensure project research needs are met in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform programming, data preparation, and analysis tasks using SPSS, Excel, R, and other software as appropriate.
  • Provide training to student research assistants with respect to data management and analysis.
  • Coordinate directly with the Principal Investigator and Project Coordinator to define analysis needs for projects, set schedules, and ensure project research needs are met in a timely manner.
  • Perform data cleaning, weighting, merging, and editing tasks as needed for analysis.
  • Advise on appropriate data visualizations and articulate key findings from quantitative analysis.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with three years of work experience in a related field.
  • Comfortability with handling raw data and performing data management with attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot.
  • Understanding of advanced statistical analysis techniques for the social sciences.
  • Mastery with at least one statistical software package or programming language.
  • Strong research and technical writing skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work with others as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three or more years' professional experience conducting and/or administering research.
  • Experience conducting survey research and/or handling survey data.
  • Proficiency in SPSS.
  • Ability to provide effective oral presentations for professional and nonprofessional audiences.
