Job Description

Apex Clean Energy is seeking a highly skilled Senior Wind Energy Analyst to join our team. As a Senior Wind Energy Analyst, you will play a critical role in the development and design of wind projects, helping to increase efficiency, performance, and value in Apex projects.

The Senior Wind Energy Analyst will be responsible for independently managing project work, conducting detailed analyses, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to inform development, financing, construction, and operation of Wind Power Projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in wind resource assessment, meteorological data analysis, and optimization and energy production estimation software.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Measurement Campaign Design: Develop and manage the meteorological campaign for assigned projects for the duration of data collection, aiming to reduce project uncertainty and implement industry best practices for data collection, while coordinating with the measurements team and developers.
  • Meteorological Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret meteorological data to assess wind resource potential and support project development.
  • Optimization of Wind Layouts: Utilize advanced modeling and analysis techniques to optimize wind farm layouts for maximum efficiency and energy production.
  • Environmental Modeling: Simulate and interpret environmental models for sound and shadow flicker.
  • Energy Production Estimation: Estimate energy production and uncertainty using statistical and analytical methods to support commercial teams.
  • Peer Review: Participate in peer review of other team members' wind analysis, layout design, and energy production estimates.
  • Project Management: Lead and manage wind energy design across a multi-disciplinary team from origination through construction, ensuring milestones are met and project objectives are achieved.
  • Coordinate with 3rd Parties: Responsible for initiation, scoping, and review of external studies, including wind resource and energy production estimates, sound modeling, and shadow flicker analysis. Review 3rd party analyses/external studies when received, ensuring the deliverables meet the intended scope and identifying any errors or questions. Disseminate results to various internal and external groups in support of commercial and permitting efforts.
  • Due Diligence: Provide technical due diligence review and production estimates for potential wind project acquisitions.
  • Research and Development: Lead and contribute to R&D initiatives, process improvement, and documentation of technical processes. Contribute to an environment of continuous improvement while keeping up to date with industry-leading methods and standards.
