Position Overview

The Production Team Leader is responsible for guiding a designated production group to meet objectives while ensuring a strong commitment to employee safety, collaboration, and product excellence. This role encompasses overseeing product processing, packaging, and storage in accordance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

This is a Salary Exempt position.

Directs a team of frontline workers, effectively communicating and inspiring them to enhance productivity and fulfill organizational objectives. Ensures adherence to safety protocols and teamwork to meet daily production targets. Responsible for employee scheduling, attendance tracking, and approving time-off requests for team members. Evaluates work performance and provides feedback on personnel matters.

Coordinates the activities of staff involved in product processing and development. Maintains accurate inventory records and orders necessary supplies to adhere to delivery timelines. Assesses materials and products to uphold company standards. Collaborates with fellow supervisors to synchronize departmental activities.

Utilizes various production reports to manage and assess daily output against customer demands. Analyzes and interprets data related to throughput and yield to meet production goals while ensuring efficiency and product quality. Completes all required documentation in a timely manner.

Promotes a safe working environment by adhering to safety regulations and policies set forth by Simmons Foods, OSHA, and other relevant agencies regarding food safety and handling.

Encourages a culture of continuous improvement among team members. Ensures that operations are executed effectively to enhance processes and eliminate waste. Implements LEAN principles in daily production activities to achieve quality performance that meets or exceeds industry standards.

Communication and Collaboration

Engages with various operational departments such as Human Resources, Safety, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, and Finance to optimize product processing. Maintains open lines of communication at all levels to ensure the production of high-quality products at minimal costs.

Employee Management

Supervises and monitors the work of employees, collaborating with Human Resources for recruitment and hiring processes. Administers disciplinary actions and recommends performance improvement strategies in conjunction with HR. Evaluates employee performance and makes compensation recommendations based on established guidelines.

Participates actively in team development and policy implementation, ensuring alignment with best practices. Attends relevant team meetings and fosters a collaborative environment to address key issues and enhance overall team effectiveness.

Operational Knowledge

Maintains familiarity with Simmons' operational systems, including quality and security protocols. Understands the impact of individual actions on these systems and is responsible for communicating any concerns or suggestions for improvement.

Physical Requirements

Ability to enter and locate information on a computer, visually verify details, and communicate effectively with customers, vendors, or employees. Must be capable of working in varying temperatures and navigating a manufacturing environment.

Technical Skills

Demonstrated leadership abilities and a willingness to take initiative. Proficient in English reading and writing. Knowledgeable in production processes, quality control, and resource management. Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite is essential.

Industry Experience

Preferred background in food processing.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, including at least one year in a leadership role.
