Role Overview: The Clinical Nutrition Specialist utilizes the nutrition care process to screen, assess, diagnose, and implement nutrition interventions. This role involves monitoring the nutritional status and progress of patients while adhering to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Standards of Practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment: Conduct nutrition-focused physical assessments, gather data through interviews, and evaluate anthropometric status.
- Diagnosis: Analyze assessment data to identify nutrition risks and problems.
- Intervention: Provide nutrition recommendations and education tailored to individual patient needs.
- Education and Counseling: Deliver culturally sensitive counseling and education to patients requiring nutritional management, employing evidence-based theories.
Qualifications:
- Active registered dietitian status with the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR)
- Current licensure in the practicing state
- Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or a related field with three years of clinical experience, or a graduate degree with one year of clinical experience
