About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Instrument Specialist to join our team at HCA HealthONE Swedish. As a key member of our Sterile Processing Department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients.

Job Summary

The Medical Instrument Specialist is responsible for meticulously cleaning, decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, and storing all reusable surgical instruments. You will also be instrumental in providing all necessary instruments for surgery and other hospital departments.

Responsibilities:
  • Inspect, assemble, and test general and specialty instrumentation for proper functioning
  • Identify tray type by contents of instrument tray
  • Identify malfunctioning instruments and replace or report instruments that need repair or are missing
  • Operate and maintain all sterilization equipment, such as autoclaves, ultrasonic washers, and cart washers
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all washing, sterilization, daily machine testing, proper testing after machine repair, temperature, humidity, air pressure, early release of implants, and eye wash station testing
  • Prepare, assemble, and package all instruments for surgery and other hospital departments
  • Pull customized case cart sheets for all surgical procedures and prepare case carts
  • Inventories, maintains, and supplies OR storage areas, specialty lockers, carts, and equipment used
  • Audit trays for decontamination, washing, assembly, sterilization, implant usage, and instrument count sheets and tracks loaner equipment
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Surgical or Central Sterile Technical training course
  • Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician preferred
  • One (1) year minimum Sterile Processing, Central Sterile Technician or Operating Room Technician experience

About the Compensation

The estimated hourly wage for this position is $20.50 - $28.00 per hour, based on industry standards and market conditions. Factors that may influence actual salary include specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees in similar roles.
