We are seeking a highly skilled Packaging Maintenance Supervisor to lead our packaging maintenance team at ASR Group/Domino Sugar. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upgrading of all packaging systems, ensuring optimal production efficiency and quality.
Key Responsibilities- Provide day-to-day direction, supervision, and coaching to the packaging maintenance team to meet site objectives and goals.
- Monitor progress and direct activities to ensure timely completion of maintenance and repairs.
- Develop and implement a well-functioning preventative maintenance program to minimize downtime and optimize production.
- Review site performance measures and key results, taking appropriate actions to improve efficiency and quality.
- Maintain good labor relations, morale, and discipline in the shop, initiating corrective actions when required.
- Ensure personnel follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety policies.
- Work with accountability groups to accomplish Key Results and 5S strategy.
- Maintain, repair, adjust, and operate 10 palletizers, including all allied electrical and mechanical systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair all related packaging machine problems with competent speed and accuracy.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, schematic drawings, and manufacturers' instructions.
- Determine materials and supplies needed to accomplish maintenance and repair.
- Instruct other personnel in the proper performance of their duties as may be required.
- Responsible for the Packaging Technicians' work schedule to ensure adequate production coverage.
- Minimum of 3 years maintenance experience required; 5 years of maintenance experience is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a packaging operation.
- Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.
- Automated equipment controls experience.
- Supervision experience in a unionized environment preferred.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP, JD Edwards, or Oracle, and tracking of best practice maintenance activities.
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance programs and standards.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking skill; able to develop and execute long-term plans.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, SAP, and Outlook required.
- Must also understand process control software and reporting functions.
- Must establish relationships and address conflict through appropriate resolution skills and techniques.
- Must have full complement of supervisory skills, including project scoping and estimating utilizing work breakdown structures, cost and schedule control, design and construction management, team building, resource planning, procurement, and permitting.
- Must consistently maintain and demonstrate a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets, and employees.
- Individual must be willing and able to support projects 24 hours per day in case of emergencies.
- Activities may include walking to and amidst work and/or construction sites, climbing ladders, working around heavy equipment and in confined spaces.
- May lift weights up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Must be willing to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must be able to perform all functions in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Must have working knowledge of:
- Pneumatic systems.
- Conveyor belts.
- Equipment controls logic.
- Power transmission devices (V-belt, sheaves, chain and sprockets, bearings).
- High-speed check-weighers and metal detectors including gravity.
- Machine lubrication and knowledge of different types of lubricants.
- Basic machine elements such as glue pumps, gear reducers, clutches, brakes, and valves.
- Strong knowledge of Food Safety, Regulatory, and Good Manufacturing Practices is preferred.
