Clinical Laboratory Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine and complicated laboratory procedures, including specimen processing and handling, testing of patient specimens, calculating and reporting of results, performance of quality control procedures, operation and maintenance of instruments and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform laboratory tests and procedures in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
- Follow approved policies and procedures for performing specific methodologies and instrument operations, and for recording and reporting results.
- Perform and document quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of testing results.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues with laboratory equipment and instruments, and take corrective action as necessary.
- Review patient results prior to release to the electronic medical record, and correlate final results with known facts concerning patient history and previous values.
- Communicate critical values and barriers to testing to medical staff according to protocol, and document according to laboratory policy.
- Complete assigned proficiency and competency assessments, and maintain sufficient testing supplies in work area.
- Participate in the training of new medical technologists and residents at the direction of seniors and lead technologists.
- NYS DOH licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
- Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology from a program registered by the NYS Department of Education, or Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or physical sciences from an accredited college or university.
- One year of experience in a clinical laboratory, or completion of an internship at a qualified institution.
- NYS license.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- ASCP certification.
- Excellent computer knowledge and skills.

The salary range for this role is $88,000 - $110,333.60 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
