Position Overview: The Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation (MMI) at UNMC is seeking applications for a Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist at an open faculty rank (Rank DOQ). This role involves delivering outpatient comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing, and treating individuals with autism spectrum disorder, other intellectual and developmental disabilities, and neurotypical individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments to identify mental health conditions.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans based on assessment findings and clinical judgment.
  • Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions and conduct regular follow-up appointments to monitor patient progress.
  • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications as necessary, ensuring efficacy and monitoring side effects.
  • Educate patients and caregivers regarding medications, potential side effects, and treatment risks and benefits.
  • Collaborate with therapists and psychologists to provide comprehensive care.
  • Provide crisis intervention and emergency consultations as required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Engage in educational, research, or scholarly activities as part of an academic medical center.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification or eligibility in child and adolescent psychiatry.
  • Eligibility for a state medical license to practice psychiatry in Nebraska.
  • Current DEA certificate and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
